Democrats and Obama supporters cheered in Chicago on Election Night. Barack Obama won a second term in the White House with a convincing win in the Electoral College count, even though the popular vote totals were much more evenly split.

Super Tuesday Results
Tuesday evening, citizens across the United States in both political parties cast primary and caucus ballots. Because so many states were involved, this single day collection of primary results is traditionally called Super Tuesday. Winning big on this day, across several regions of the country can solidify a presidential hopeful’s campaign and set that candidate up as the party’s front runner.
At the same time, performing poorly on Super Tuesday can end a campaign. Without winning some states and performing well in others–especially if a candidate has not succeeded in previous contests–it becomes very hard to convince campaign volunteers and financial donors to keep working for the hope of winning the nomination.
Keep track of the ongoing results of the party primaries contests with the following continuously updated Election Central posts.
Below are the percentage results of each candidate in each state’s contest. Click open each accordion to examine the data.
